Is there anybody out there still skeptical about the Wikipedia approach to decentralized knowledge? I don’t think so. In fact, wikipedia has demonstrated the best results in creating knowledge. If something happens in the world, the chances the correspondent lemma has been already updated before you get news about it by traditional media is very high. We now use it every day, and don’t realize how revolutionary its approach was and, despite the detractors and the skepticals, how it changed our mind in our old concepts of creating and delivering knowledge.

The key word is decentralization. Decentralization is the key word of many areas of our present and our next future.

Instead of having a little group of experts working hard for years to deliver an immutable source of knowledge, and maybe biased by the cultural imprinting of the experts themselves, wikipedia has an astounding forty millions of accounts, and more than about one hundred and fifty thousand are actively editing. Every day. From all the world. 24/7.

The era of information with the classical one-to-many paradigm is declining in importance and effectiveness in a so much big part of the world, substituted by and endlessly ’round the clock mutter of billions of people that communicate one to one, one to many and many to many, in the social networks. Sure, with many contradictions and many problems that we have and we’ll have to face. But, like or dislike, this is a fact.

Decentralization in finance has begun with bitcoin and every day it adds a little piece of innovation in a continuous turmoil. It has begun and cannot be stopped, although somebody tries, usually not even understanding what he is talking about, and we still remember what the same dumbs were saying about the internet only some years ago, even at the time not understanding what they were talking about.

Once technological and cultural revolutions happen to have success, we can’t take a step back. They become a part of our DNA.

Blockchains are a revolution. And are here to stay. It doesn’t matter that for now we didn’t feel it. Its change is subtle but profound. It is a source of trust in an untrusted environment without a central authority. Again, you see, decentralization. Decentralized trust. You may say bitcoin is only speculation and you may be not completely far from the truth now, you may say it’s not money due to extreme volatility and other reasons. I instead say bitcoin is demonstrating day by day that obtaining decentralized trust is possible. Not only possible. We are doing it now.

Here we are to make our little part in this revolution.
